photo-50photo-49 photo-48bebefeetThe older I get, the more I appreciate seasons of change. With summer comes warm days, long nights, plenty of fun things to do, the smell of sunscreen, iced coffee, watermelon and strawberries, sandy toes, flip flops and bikinis. You don’t realize as a kid, or even a teenager that those things are what make up a season, and they also create memories. These summer days, I soak up the long walks we’re able to take at 8pm after dinner. Just being able to keep the kids up a little extra to enjoy the warmth and watch the sun go down. The smell of BBQ always in the air, and baseball on our TV all summer long. The smell of sunscreen reminds me of my sweet babies cheeks when they get rosy red from the heat. All things are memories in my mind, memories for a lifetime.

With winter comes cozy nights by the fire, bundled up with the little ones. It’s birthdays, and holidays mixed in. It’s our anniversary. It’s rainy days and venturing to the snow. It’s hot chocolate and lighting candles. It’s the smell of hearty foods and cinnamon.

It’s the silly things as an adult and a parent that you look forward to experiencing with your kiddos. Whether it be soaking up the rays in the months of June-September, and teaching them how to swim or finally ride a bike without training wheels. Or decorating the tree together while counting down the days to Christmas. All seasons wrapped into a big heaping pile of love kept deep within your heart.
