That right there ladies and gentlemen (if there are some) is yours truly, seven months along with little miss Ava.  At that moment I felt as though I was rockin’ pregnancy. I was rockin’ it good. I had no morning sickness, I had very little fatigue (I was hiking up mountains at 8 1/2 months), I ate whatever I wanted without much weight gain… yes, I’m going to brag. I always begged my husband to bring me In-N-Out, and he did. I love you babe! Little did I know that my next pregnancy’s plans were the complete opposite.

Four years later, those two pink lines showed up again. Woo hoo! I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to endure pregnancy and rock it as well as I did last time. Welp, ya right. That plan got shot down real quick once seven weeks hit. Along came the constant nausea, vomiting, EXTREME fatigue, and loss of appetite. Those of you who have been there are probably chuckling to themselves right now. It flipping sucks! A girlfriend of mine found out a month and a half before I did that she was pregnant and she was sicker than a dog (where did that phrase come from anyway). I sent lots of giggles her way while she was endure the faaantastic joys of the first trimester. You know, made fun of her for being such a wimp, and how she needs to just suck it up. Little did I know that payback was about to hit me and hit me hard.

And there I am, seven months along with Nolan man. Strange to see how different you carry with a girl and boy. Thankfully, by this point most symptoms had subsided. The only thing I was dealing with was gestational diabetes. That wasn’t fun either. You have no idea how bad I wanted a damn maple donut the entire rest of my pregnancy. A friend of mine actually brought one to me when she came to visit us in the hospital after I gave birth. To this day I thank you for that Allyson!

If you’re anything like me, you’re the biggest wussy when it comes to feeling sick. ESPECIALLY when it’s nausea and vomiting. It’s gross, it’s weird and it just isn’t right. Plus, it’s inconvenient! So you better believe that I looked up and tried every single thing I could to try to subside any symptoms I had. These are a few things that I had and what worked for me.

Be advised that you may not agree with any of them, or may not want to try them yourself if you’re currently pregnant. However, they worked for me and rest assured I researched very carefully to make sure all was safe for the baby.

For nausea – If it was one of those days where it came in waves and I could tolerate it I sucked on ginger chews, wore my sea bands all the time, and also noticed peppermint gum helped. Altoids worked best for me with their strong aroma. If it was a bad day, and I had a full day of work and errands ahead of me then I turned to lots of water, making sure I ate small meals throughout the day (even if it came right back up), and as strange as it sounds sniffing an alcohol swab. Apparently there is something that triggers your brain with the scent and takes away nausea. Believe it or not, but if you’re standing in line at the grocery store feeling green it might just help you get home. The REALLY bad days I would take half a less drowsy Dramamine. DON’T WORRY! It’s completely 100% safe in pregnancy.

For Fatigue – I tried sticking with snacks that naturally give you energy. Those include, bananas, apples, hummus and carrots, organic dark chocolate, pumpkin seeds, celery and almond butter, oatmeal with blueberries and cinnamon, watermelon, coconut water and PLENTY of filtered water as well, pineapple, avocado, strawberries, and cucumbers. I had to limit myself with the fruit with the diabetes, but I sometimes substituted it with raw almonds and veggies. On the bad days, I had my one and only cup of coffee.

For Stretch Marks – I would switch off with products. One night before bed I would lather this stuff, then the next night I would lather on this stuff. Both worked great. Weather or not you’re going to get them really depends on your body, and genetics but definitely try them both to see if they help. I was blessed with only one and it’s almost completely faded now. I still use the Egyptian Magic Cream. That stuff is amazing!

For comfort – I wore this with everything. It was soft and held those pants up well! I can’t even tell you how many maxi dresses I bought and still wear! Thank goodness for crazy cute patterns and clothing being in style.

We are officially done having anymore babies, so now I get to bask in the pregnancy bliss while helping my friends through it! And hey… I’m completely fine with that. Is there anything that wasn’t mentioned that you dealt with while pregnant? What helped? Please share, I’d love to hear!
